Travel Insurance
You must be fully covered by health insurance for the duration of the trip and
your policy must include: personal injury, medical expenses abroad, emergency
medical evacuation, death and repatriation. If your primary care practitioner
does not cover the above, you must take out a travel insurance policy that includes emergency medical evacuation coverage for the duration of
your time abroad.
We have used www.insuremytrip.com to purchase travel insurance in the past. They will provide you with competitive quotes from different carriers. Make sure that whichever provideryou choose to go with covers trekking in remote locations and high-altitudes. We have found some carriers to exclude activities above 14,000ft and trekking in remote locations. There is a lot of fine print in these polices and the last thing we want is for you to purchase a policy that we find out later will not even cover you for the trek.
Here are some policies that we have gone with in the past:
STA Travel: 'Standard' package www.statravel.com
Global Travel Shield: 'Standard' policy www.globaltravelshield.com
We will ask you for proof of health coverage to be submitted with your final
deposit.
